Imer Muhović

I come from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. After obtaining my BSc degree in Genetics and Bioengineering at the International Burch University and halfway through my MSc, I started working as a QA Analyst at Authority Partners in Sarajevo. While outside my field of education, hard work and an analytical rigor obtained by a science education helped me excel in my work, and led me to spending two professionally satisfying years at that position.

On the educational front, my science background and my IT skills from work and previous schooling, combined to produce my Masters thesis project, a web application for the analysis of G-Quadruplex forming sites, which are tertiary structures that the DNA can produce, under the correct conditions. The web application was made in python, and included a neural network capable of predicting the melting temperature of predicted structures, and was judged to be enough for me to obtain the title of Master of Genetics and Bioengineering.

I wanted to continue this path of creating better applications for scientists, which culminated in my application to the SINGEK project, for the position of ESR 15 where my goal is to create a web application for the analysis of single cell genomics data, a new and exciting field. As ESR 15 I am tasked with creating a large web application, to make single cell genomics data more easy to analyze. My job has me switching between the roles of a full-stack developer, DevOps, and bioinformatician, putting me at the very intersection of science and software development.
